The Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for the European food and drink industry was published just before Xmas. Paul Finglas, following a competitive selection process, was one of the team of top European scientific experts advising on its content.
The SRIA sets out three key priorities:
- Increasing the Engagement and Involvement of Consumers
- Providing the Basis for a More Personalized and Customized Food Supply
- Developing a More Flexible, Dynamic and Sustainable Food System
This document is well aligned with the aims of the new Food Knowledge and Innovation Community (FoodConnects) and the SRIA will be a key input into European Commission thinking and investment into the food and drink manufacturing sector via the emerging Food 2030 strategy and Horizon 2020.
